Sciatica Relief

Sciatica Relief

To attain sciatica pain relief, it is important to understand the condition causing sciatica pain. The outcome of sciatica pain is onset by compressed or irritated nerve roots of the sciatic nerve. In other words, it is important to determine what has caused these nerve roots to become damaged.

There are different conditions that may cause sciatica such as a herniated disk, spinal stenosis, spondylolisthese, piriformis syndrome and spinal trauma.  In most instances pain can be relieved without the use of a surgical procedure.  Pain relief can be found in a number of different ways such as analgesics, curbing inflammation, returning the strengths to the back and finally preventing the pain from returning.

Sciatic Nerve Pain Relief

The most common treatments for sciatica nerve pain relief can usually be found with cortisone injections, anti-inflammatory drugs, ultrasounds and electrical stimulation.  However, using any one of these methods will usually only provide temporary relief and in most cases the pain will return.

Long term sciatica pain relief can be achieved once the source of the sciatica is found.  Some therapies that may provide sciatica relief once the source has been found can be one of many, such as trigger point therapy.  This form of treatment applies pressure to the mid-buttock area using a massage tool.

Inversion therapy is another form of therapy used to relieve sciatica pain.  By having the patient lie upside down, the spine is pulled in the opposite direction which enables the vertebrae to relax and aids the spinal discs to return to their shape.  It also helps the circulation by allowing the injured area to receive the adequate amount of blood and oxygen, thereby aiding the healing process.

Another effective form of treatment for sciatic pain is through exercise.  Exercise can also be an effective treatment in easing the pain from sciatica.  However, it is important to understand the cause of the pain as some exercises can aggravate the situation at hand.  A physician can determine whether or not exercise can be used by pin pointing the origin and can provide certain techniques which will help strengthen the core muscles.  By incorporating strength training and proper stretching into the daily routine, it will not only help with the ease of pain, but may also prevent any pain from reoccurring.

Other forms of sciatic nerve pain relief can be found with acupressure, yoga postures, ayurvedic treatment and also through diet therapy.
